The idea is to block the countries that are causing you the most trouble. If you don't mind allowing the entire world to have access to your stuff, then this site probably isn't much use to you. But if you have a need to keep numerous troublesome countries out, then enjoy what is available for you here.

Also included in each of the two packages above is a country lookup tool. Just enter an IP address and it will display the IP range it falls in as well as the country the IP range belongs to along with several IP ranges and countries on both sides of the IP range. You can try IPToCountry right here on this site.
Why would you want to block entire countries from your web site? Not sure about you, but you can read why I want to block countries.
If you'd like, you can check out a few sites that I have control over and am using these two packages for blocking countries. The sites on dedicated servers are using the iptables method while the sites on shared servers are using the htaccess country blocking method.

If you are in a country that is being blocked, you will get a blank page from the sites on shared servers. But for the dedicated servers, you will get nothing. It will be as if the site doesn't even exist. You can't even ping them.
This site here at fixingtheweb.com is presently not employing any country blocking at all. I'm letting the entire world have access to these blocking methods. However, if I catch any misbehaving countries here, I have the power to block!
